[01-11-2026] Kern County, CA – Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle on S. H St. in Bakersfield

A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning in southeast Bakersfield on January 11, 2026, in the 4200 block of S. H Street, near White Lane.

Officers from the Bakersfield Police Department arrived at the scene at 1:51 a.m. to find a male pedestrian lying in the roadway. Medical personnel declared the pedestrian dead at the scene. The pedestrian’s identity will be released pending the notification of next of kin.

Preliminary investigations reveal that a gray Nissan sedan, traveling northbound on S. H Street, struck the pedestrian, who was outside of a crosswalk at the time.

The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and fully cooperated with law enforcement. Officials from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) confirmed that neither speed nor impairment was a factor in the crash.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
