[01-19-2026] Orange County, CA – Pedestrian Killed in Suspected DUI Crash in Fountain Valley

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Fountain Valley on Monday night, January 19, 2026.

According to the Fountain Valley Police Department, officers were dispatched around 7:30 p.m. to the intersection of Warner Avenue and Newhope Street.

When officers arrived, they found a man who had been hit by a Toyota Camry. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending formal identification and notification of next of kin.

The driver involved in the crash was identified as Bruce S., a 47-year-old who remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Following a preliminary investigation, authorities arrested the driver on suspicion of multiple charges, including felony driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

The crash remains under investigation by the department’s Traffic Bureau.
