[12-01-2025] Fresno County, CA – Worker Killed After Being Crushed While Removing Oil Rig in Riverdale

A 29-year-old man, identified as Alfredo O. of Arvin, was killed after being crushed while removing an oil rig near Mt. Whitney and Polk avenues in Riverdale, Riverside County, on Monday morning, December 1, 2025.

According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, they received a report around 10:45 a.m. about an injured worker at the site, located about 25 miles south of Fresno.

Authorities said the man was working as part of a company tasked with removing an oil rig from the property when a large piece of steel from the rig swung down and crushed him.

Deputies arrived at the scene and pronounced the man dead due to the severity of his injuries.

Cal/OSHA has been notified and is investigating the incident. No further information was immediately available.
