[08-02-2026] Santa Clara County, CA – Pedestrian Killed in Suspected DUI Hit-and-Run Crash in San Jose

A pedestrian was killed in a suspected DUI hit-and-run crash in San Jose early Sunday morning, August 2, 2026.

According to the San Jose Police Department, the incident occurred around 2 a.m. at the intersection of Bernal Road and Via Del Oro.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said the driver fled after the collision but was later located and arrested.

Authorities allege the suspect was driving under the influence at the time of the crash. The victim’s identity has not been released, and the suspect’s name has also been withheld as the investigation continues.

The suspect was booked into jail on suspicion of driving under the influence, vehicular manslaughter, and felony hit-and-run.

The investigation remains ongoing.
