An unidentified 18-year-old man was killed following a deadly wrong-way crash involving a DUI drive on Highway 101 on early Saturday morning, December 18, 2021.
According to the initial reports from local authorities, the crash transpired at approximately 3:00 a.m. on Highway 101, south of California Street.
A 2007 Honda Accord was traveling the wrong way on Highway 101. The Honda was heading south in the northbound lanes and collided head-on with an oncoming northbound 2008 Nissan 350Z.
The driver of the Nissan was killed in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, his passenger sustained moderate injuries and was immediately taken to Los Robles Regional Medical Center.
On the other hand, the wrong-way driver suffered from major injuries and was taken to Ventura County Medical Center. Authorities later determined that the wrong-way driver was under the influence at the time of the accident.
The wrong-way driver was then arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.
