[09-23-2026] Imperial County, CA – 20-Year-Old Man Killed, Another Seriously Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash in El Centro

A 20-year-old man was killed, and another man was seriously injured after two vehicles collided in El Centro early Wednesday morning, September 23, 2026.

According to the El Centro Police Department, officers responded to the crash at around 1:30 a.m. on the 3000 block of North Imperial Avenue.

Police said officers found one adult male on the dirt shoulder along the southbound lanes with severe injuries. A second adult male was found inside a nearby canal drain with serious injuries.

Medical personnel treated both men. The 20-year-old Imperial resident died from his injuries at the scene, while the second man was transported by air ambulance to a medical facility for further treatment.

A preliminary investigation indicated that a black Dodge and a white Toyota were traveling northbound on Imperial Avenue when they collided. The Dodge overturned following the impact, ejecting its occupants. The occupants of the Toyota were not injured.

The cause and circumstances of the collision remain under investigation by the El Centro Police Department.
