Fatal DUI Accident Statistics
When crossing the street, pedestrians are at the greatest risk of being involved in an accident. Because they are unprotected, they are the most at risk in the event of a catastrophic event.
The number of pedestrian deaths in the United States has risen significantly in recent years. Between 2007 and 2016, the number of traffic-related deaths dropped by 14%, but the number of pedestrian deaths increased by 27%.
Pedestrians had the right of way in this case because an intoxicated driver couldn’t give it to them. If you’re caught driving while intoxicated, you’ll face criminal charges. Sadly, in the United States, car accidents involving impaired drivers are all too common.
Approximately 30 people per day are killed in drunk driving accidents in the United States, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Drunk driving is to blame for nearly a third of all fatal car accidents in the United States. When it came to their blood alcohol content (BAC), 61% of these drivers tested positive.
