A 42-year-old driver identified as Daniel M., possibly fleeing the scene of a traffic collision in Rialto, died after running a red light and causing a second crash that injured one other person on Wednesday, June 8, 2022.
The crash occurred at 3:11 p.m. at Riverside Avenue and Country Club Drive.
According to a news release from Rialto police, Montano was driving a red Toyota Tacoma that ran a red light at Riverside Avenue.
The truck collided with another vehicle and overturned.
According to police, Montano and the woman driving the other vehicle were both alone at the time of the collision.
She was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The pickup’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, Montano was fleeing from another accident that occurred minutes before he ran a red light.
According to evidence found at the scene, he may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time.
The Rialto police are still investigating the crash.
