Fatal Semi-Truck Crash Statistics
Semi-trucks are regarded as a key component of the economy. Every year, the trucking business in the United States transfers billions of dollars in goods. Unfortunately, there are many huge rigs on the roadways, which can be hazardous to other drivers.
A semi-truck disaster is far more dangerous than a car or bus collision. The main issue is that big rig trucks are so large compared to other cars on the road.
The number of people killed in large rig vehicles has increased by 30% since 2009. According to the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS), 4,102 people died on the road due to big rigs in 2017.
Truck accidents are caused by various factors, including the driver’s inability to control the truck, tire blowouts, and vehicle failure, to name a few. The driver could potentially be tired or intoxicated.
