[07-05-2022] San Diego County, CA – 87-Year-Old Pedestrian Man Struck and Killed by Pickup Truck in South Bay

According to county medical officials, an 87-year-old man was hit and killed by a vehicle while crossing the street Tuesday in National City, July 5, 2022.

According to the National City Police Department, the deadly crash occurred around 8:20 a.m. on Highland Avenue at East 24th Street.

A pickup truck struck the man as he was crossing the street heading south in the west crosswalk while making a left turn on a green light.

The victim, identified as Mariano P., was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. According to the county medical examiner, his cause of death was due to blunt force injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.
