[07-05-2022] San Diego County, CA - 87-Year-Old Man Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Crash in National CityAn 87-year-old man identified as Mariano P. was fatally struck by a pickup truck in a National City intersection on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.

The crash occurred just before 8:30 a.m. on East 24th Street at Highland Avenue.

According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, the car struck National City resident Mariano Pulido as he crossed the street.

Paramedics attempted to revive him before declaring the victim dead at the scene of the accident.

According to the county agency, investigators found that the driver was making a left turn from a northbound lane at the intersection when Pulido was approaching.

The crash remains under investigation.
