[07-17-2022] Fresno County, CA – Pedestrian Fatally Struck by a Train Near West Shaw

According to the Fresno Police Department, a woman was struck by a train while crossing the tracks in northwest Fresno Sunday morning, July 17, 2022.

The fatal collision transpired at 12:12 a.m. on Shaw Avenue near Golden State Boulevard.

According to Lt. Sean Biggs, the engineer with Union Pacific railroad told officers the woman was attempting to cross the railroad tracks with her bike before she was struck.

The woman was described by police as 50s in her age, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is unknown.

It is also unknown how fast the train was going when it hit the victim.

The crash is still under investigation.
