[07-17-2022] Orange County, CA - Two People Killed in Fatal DUI Crash in IrvineAccording to the police, two people died, and a man was detained on suspicion of driving under the influence in Irvine on Sunday, July 17, 2022.

The crash occurred around 8:00 p.m. at Meadow Valley and Spring Valley.

Police and firefighters were called in response to a collision involving a Mini Cooper and a Volkswagen Golf.

After the collision, the Mini Cooper caught fire, and the driver and a passenger were found dead inside.

According to the police, Jack V., 20, of Irvine, who was operating the Golf, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Varganagl was hurt in the collision and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to the police.

Authorities took some time to confirm the victims’ identities, so their names weren’t immediately disclosed to the public.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but police said speed and drugs appear to have factored into it.
