[07-25-2022] Alameda County, CA – Female Pedestrian Severely Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle in Berkeley Crosswalk

According to authorities, a woman in her 50s sustained severe injuries after being struck by a van at a crosswalk on Telegraph Avenue late Monday afternoon, July 25, 2022.

The crash occurred around 4:50 p.m. on Derby Street.

According to the police, the vehicle heading south from Derby turned left onto Telegraph when it hit the victim.

According to the police, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The collision shut down Telegraph between Ward and Carleton and Derby between Dana and Regent.

Police dubbed the accident a “major traffic collision.”

Police were investigating if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

It was not known when the roads would reopen.
