A motorcycle police officer Sgt. Matt L. died after a fatal motorcycle crash near Nuevo Monday evening.

The collision happened around 7:15 p.m. at Pico Avenue and Santa Rosa Road Intersection.

Lewis was riding his motorcycle at the time of the collision.

According to the CHP representative, the officer was not on duty when he collided with a pickup truck pulling a trailer.

Lewis was declared dead on the scene.
