[07-30-2022] San Bernardino County, CA- Driver and Passenger Injured after Rollover Boat Crash near Bass Point

According to deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station, alcohol played a role in a boat crash that injured a driver and a passenger near Bass Point on Saturday, July 30, 2022.

According to a press release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station, Marine Enforcement deputies responded to a report of a boat collision on the Colorado River near Bass Point, just south of Emerald Cove, at approximately 8:26 p.m.

Davis Smisek, the vessel’s operator, and his passengers traveled south on the Colorado River when the vessel collided with the California shoreline.

The collision caused the boat to roll over, ejecting four passengers. One female passenger suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Smisek suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Deputies discovered that alcohol was a factor in the collision during their investigation.
