According to the San Bernardino County firefighters and California Highway Patrol officers, the collision was reported around 12:06 p.m. near Afton Road.

A 2021 Ford F-350 pickup truck with a 22-foot gooseneck trailer loaded with chalkboards, a 2020 Freightliner cargo truck loaded with frozen food, a 2019 Dodge Ram pickup truck, and a 2017 semi-trailer were among the vehicles involved.

The semi-trailer then slammed into the back of the stopped and disabled Freightliner.

MULTI-VEHICLE ACCIDENT STATISTICS

A multi-vehicle accident is a car accident that involves more than one vehicle. This type of traffic accident is known as a “pile-up,” especially when six or more cars are involved.

According to a recent National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) study, over 13,000 people were killed in multi-vehicle accidents involving passenger vehicles, accounting for more than 40% of all motor vehicle accidents yearly.

These types of accidents frequently occur on highways where hundreds of cars are driving at high speeds next to each other. This makes it difficult for many drivers approaching an accident to stop at a safe distance, potentially causing them to collide with other vehicles.

Most multi-car accidents occur when visibility on the road is impaired by fog, rain, or snow. Drivers must be extra cautious and aware of these conditions. Even so, some drivers are unaware of how hazardous the roads are.

When more than one car is involved in an accident, drivers frequently don’t have much time to decide what to do in order to avoid colliding with the cars in front of them. Most panicked drivers hit the brakes too late, swerve into oncoming traffic, and skid.

Cars may swerve into oncoming traffic to avoid a collision, but this can set off a terrible chain reaction that leads to a larger pile-up. It’s no surprise that a multi-car accident is one of the most dangerous things that can happen on the road.

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY MULTI-VEHICLE COLLISION LAWYERS

When more than three cars are involved in an accident, determining who is at fault can be more difficult than when only one to three cars are involved. Even insurance companies are unable to determine who is at fault or what caused the accident in a timely manner. This is why there are so many court cases. The court can learn more about the case, reach an equitable decision, and determine the appropriate amount of compensation.

Multi-car accidents, like any other traffic accident, necessitate evidence. Whether or not there is a death, the person with the best evidence list usually wins and receives the most money. The main evidence examined fell into the category of negligence and can be classified as either contributory or comparative.
