One person was killed after a deadly two-vehicle collision in Bakersfield on Thursday night, August 5.

[08-05-2021] Kern County, CA - Two-Vehicle Collision in Bakersfield Results in One DeathThe deadly collision transpired at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Highway 99 near Highway 58 in Bakersfield. A 2005 Ford sedan traveled at high speeds on Highway 99 and later rear-ended a 2012 Ford two-axle truck.

Due to the severity of the impact, the 2005 Ford driver was trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated by emergency personnel. He sustained moderate to major injuries in the crash.

Unfortunately, the Ford sedan driver later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been disclosed.

The driver of the 2012 Ford two-axle was able to survive the accident and sustained only minor injuries. An active investigation of the collision is currently underway.
