[06-11-2021] Santa Clara County, CA – One Person Killed, Two Injured After a Fatal DUI Crash in San Jose

One woman was killed while two men were hurt after a suspected drunk driver slammed into the outdoor dining area in a restaurant in San Jose on Friday night, June 11.

The deadly crash happened at approximately 9:00 p.m. at Agave Sports Bar on West Alma Avenue in San Jose. A suspected drunk driving was sitting in his parked white 2017 Chevrolet Silverado truck when he accidentally put his vehicle in reverse.

The driver then unexpectedly backed up at high speeds, hitting three people sitting in the outdoor area in the process. The three victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The female victim, unfortunately, later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.

The two other male victims sustained serious injuries but are expected to recover. The suspect was arrested on DUI-related charges. He was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.
