Two people were injured and sent to the hospital after a plane crash in French Valley, Riverside County, on Friday morning, January 27, 2023.
According to the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department, the crash occurred at around 8:18 a.m. at 38000 Sky Canyon Drive near French Valley Airport.
Responders arrived at the scene to discover an upside-down fixed-wing single-engine aircraft in a gully next to a creek. The Federal Aviation Administration registry said the Cessna T210 aircraft was registered to 32Eagle LLC in Orange.
Two occupants of the plane climbed out of the rubble. They received treatment on the spot for their minor injuries and were sent to a local hospital. The pilot was reportedly trying to perform an emergency landing, of which nature was not confirmed.
Responders from the California Highway Patrol and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department also arrived at the scene along with hazardous materials and environmental health teams despite no fuel leaking from the aircraft.
The National Transportation Safety Board and FAA will examine what caused the accident.
