The highway was cleared by snowplows before getting reopened around 5:55 p.m.
Truck Accident Statistics
Truck drivers have a lower risk of serious or fatal injuries in the event of an accident since trucks are generally sturdy. According to research by the National Safety Council, this is the leading cause of death and injury for both pedestrians and drivers of smaller cars. Those unlucky enough to be in an accident involving one of these massive trucks are sometimes in grave danger, both physically and psychologically.
Death tolls from vehicle accidents average around 4,000 per year in the United States. Despite only accounting for 2% of these accidents, big trucks are to blame for 11% of fatalities. In the Golden State, heavy rigs are limited to 55 mph on all public roads to reduce the number of accidents and save lives involving semi-trucks.
According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, there were around 28,000 accidents involving trucks in the state in 2017. Around 369 people lost their lives, while over nine thousand were injured.
What to Do After a Truck Accident
After a major crash involving a car or a truck, dial 911 immediately. If questioned, simply share the information at your disposal and avoid making any assumptions. People engaged in accidents may apologize profusely even if they are not at fault because they are still in shock. By doing so, you’ve given the insurance company a greater reason to deny your claim.
Please contact the police and ask for a report to be filed. If you’d rather we do so on your behalf, fill out our online form. Requesting an investigation into a possible claim from us won’t cost you anything upfront. These details are necessary for us to finish processing your claim.
