[01-29-2023] Riverside County, CA – Two-Car Crash in Menifee Killed 75-Year-Old Driver, Another Injured

A 75-year-old driver, identified as Judith A.,was killed, and another driver sustained injuries after a two-vehicle crash in Menifee on Sunday morning, January 29, 2023.

According to reports, the deadly collision occurred around 9:51 a.m. at the intersection of Watson and Menifee roads.

Authorities stated that the victim was driving an eastbound Hyundai sedan when it stopped at the intersection. Only eastbound and westbound traffic is required to stop at this intersection; southbound and northbound drivers are not required to yield or stop.

Based on the preliminary investigation, a Volkswagen was moving southbound on Menifee Road and was about to cross Watson. After the Hyundai driver came to a stop, she continued into the intersection, where the southbound Volkswagen rear-ended her car.

As a result, the Volkswagen struck the Hyundai’s driver’s side at an unknown speed.

Paramedics arrived moments later and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the unnamed Volkswagen driver was taken to a nearby trauma center for treatment of minor injuries.

It didn’t appear that either drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision.

Authorities closed Menifee Road between Calle De Caballos and Citation Avenue while investigating the crash.

Watson Road was also closed between Winner Circle and Cumming Avenue.
