Reckless Driving Accident Statistics

Every year, reckless driving leads to countless traffic accidents, road rage incidents, and fatal highway crashes in the United States. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, aggressive driving involves breaking traffic laws frequently to put other people or property at risk.

In a 2009 study by the American Automobile Association, aggressive driving was a factor in 56% of fatal accidents between 2003 and 2007.

As indicated by statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Fatal Accident Reporting System, excessive speed is the most common cause of fatal accidents.

Reckless driving is classified as a significant traffic violation or an extreme felony in California. The terms “driving” and “reckless,” “careless,” and “improper” driving are commonly used interchangeably. Whatever you name them, they dramatically increase the chance of deadly car accidents.

Drivers who are aggressive or careless endanger the lives of others. It is unacceptable when reckless driving causes injury to third parties. Those responsible for the damage and deaths caused by these drivers should face the consequences.

Use caution when speaking and refrain from assuming things about situations that you are unfamiliar with. Immediately after an accident, victims may apologize profusely even if they were not at fault due to shock and anxiety. Insurance companies may use this deed of kindness as proof that you admitted guilt to have your claim denied.

Reckless Driving Accident Attorneys for Victims in Anaheim

Legal negligence is to blame for the majority of auto accidents. Your California accident lawyer will work to establish “negligence per se” by demonstrating that the other driver was at fault in the collision that resulted from reckless driving. Deliberate behavior, such as driving under the influence, carries a higher risk of unintended consequences because it is voluntary.

An injured pedestrian, passenger, or other road users may be able to prove that carelessness was the main factor in their injury. The California Vehicle Code forbids reckless driving, and being negligent is a crime in and of itself. In either scenario, a compelling claim requires the training and experience of an aggressive California reckless driving accident attorney.
