[02-06-2023] Alameda County, CA – Driver Killed, 19-Year-Old Injured After Two-Car Crash in Fremont

A two-vehicle crash injured one person and killed another in Fremont on Monday night, February 6, 2023.

The fatal collision reportedly occurred around 8:27 p.m. at Niles Boulevard and Hillview Drive intersection.

The 19-year-old Fremont driver was traveling south in the area while the 53-year-old driver drove eastbound and turned left on Niles Boulevard.

Vehicle 1’s front collided with Vehicle 2’s driver’s side after both vehicles collided with an unoccupied parked car. The first vehicle was on top of the east curb line, and the second vehicle came to a halt in front of a nearby house, causing minor damage.

Firefighters arrived and extricated one of the drivers from the vehicle.

Despite first responders’ efforts to save the 53-year-old driver, a Modesto man, the victim succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old Fremont man was taken to a nearby trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities did not identify either of the drivers or confirm whether either vehicle had passengers. Until toxicology reports and search warrants for medical records are received, the police will continue their investigation.

This is Fremont’s first fatal traffic accident in 2023. According to the police, alcohol or drugs may have played a role in this crash.
