Bicycle Accident Statistics

When traveling small distances, more people are getting interested in riding bicycles. It’s mostly because bicycles are a low-cost and environmentally beneficial alternative. Bicycle accidents, unfortunately, have been on the rise in recent years.

Between 2007 and 2018, 8,908 cyclists died in the United States. That figure was multiplied by 12 to get the average. 2018 was the deadliest year for bikers, with 857 killed.

Bicycle accidents have been on the rise in California in recent years. Approximately 155 persons died in fatal bicycle accidents in 2018.

Cyclist fatalities account for 4% of all motor accidents in California. This is more than double the national rate, and it ranks California top in the US in terms of cycling deaths.

There are plenty of paths, trails, and roads in San Diego to explore on two wheels, whether you’re an avid mountain biker, a road bike warrior, or a breezy beach cruiser. However, with more bicycles on the road comes an increased risk of accidents.

San Diego County Bike Accident Lawyers for Victims

Those injured in bike accidents have a right to receive compensation for their injuries and damages from the liable motor vehicle driver.

However, injured bicyclists and their family members shouldn’t expect the driver’s insurance company to cut them a check for a fair amount willingly. Insurance companies are experts at denying claims, delaying claim payments, and trying to get injured victims to settle for less than they deserve.

At Arash Law, our San Diego bike accident lawyers are proud to help injured parties and their families fight for the compensation they are entitled to receive.
