Five people, including three teenage girls, were injured following a two-vehicle collision involving a hit-and-run driver in Seal Beach, Orange County, on Saturday evening, February 11, 2023.
According to the Orange County Fire Authority, the crash occurred at about 7:14 p.m. near the intersection of Main Street and East Pacific Coast Highway in Seal Beach.
Seal Beach police said a reckless driver driving a tan pickup truck struck a silver four-door vehicle with five occupants while speeding northbound on PCH. Both vehicles were heavily damaged.
The silver car spun around in the junction with one door off while the truck slammed into a bus bench fronting the Chase bank at 801 PCH several feet away.
The five occupants of the silver vehicle sustained serious injuries and were transported to the hospital. Three of them, all 17-year-old girls, were released, while the other two remain in the hospital in stable condition.
The truck driver reportedly fled the scene into the Hill residential area. He was described as a man between 18 and 20, roughly 5’10” tall, and was seen wearing a maroon shirt.
Authorities have not yet discovered whether drugs or alcohol played a role as their investigation and search continued. Anyone with information is urged to contact them.
