What to Do Following an Accident

When involved in a vehicle collision, you should always come to a complete stop. Hit-and-runs are punishable by law. If anyone is killed or injured in a crash and law enforcement is not yet present, the police or CHP should be notified immediately. When a driver cannot report a collision to the police or the CHP, any occupant who was in the car at the time must do so.

Remove your vehicle from the road if no one has been injured or killed. Authorities may impound vehicles that are not moved or removed from the street or highway.
