02-16-2023-One-Person-Injured-in-Truck-and-Train-Collision-in-InglewoodAn unidentified person was reportedly injured after a cement truck and a Metro train collided in Inglewood on Thursday night, February 16, 2023.

The collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. near the CEMEX Inglewood Concrete Plant on Florence and Cedar avenues.

The cement truck stalled on the tracks, according to sources, but the driver was able to escape before the Metro train ran over it. A cracked train windshield and a cement truck on its side were both seen on camera.

When Los Angeles County firefighters arrived on the scene, they initially thought there was only one injured person, but it now seems they were not seriously hurt.

The K-Line Metro service was hampered, but the tracks are now open again.

South Los Angeles and Inglewood are both served by the K Line, which debuted last October.

Truck Accident Statistics

Truck drivers are less likely to suffer severe or fatal injuries in an accident because big rigs are typically stronger than smaller cars. According to the National Safety Council, this is the main reason that pedestrians and drivers of smaller cars die and are injured. The lives of those involved in an accident involving one of these large vehicles are occasionally seriously endangered, both physically and mentally.

Each year, more than 4,000 people in the United States pass away in car accidents. Large vehicles are only involved in 2% of these collisions, but they cause 11% of the fatalities. In an effort to reduce the likelihood of semi-truck accidents and the resulting fatalities, California has implemented a 55 mph speed limit for big rigs on all public roads.

According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, California had about 28,000 truck-related accidents in 2017. Nearly 9,000 people were injured, and there were about 369 fatalities.
