Fatal Bicycle Accident Statistics
Riding a bicycle on the road can be risky and, in rare cases, fatal, especially in congested regions. According to the National Highway Road Safety Administration, 840 cyclists were killed in motor vehicle incidents in 2016, accounting for 2% of traffic fatalities.
Riding a bike has several advantages. It is both climate and budget-friendly, health-conscious, and it is an easy way to get from place A to place B., Especially in the hustling-bustling City of Angels, where space is
limited and parking is dreadful.
With more and more bike lanes opening up throughout L.A., it’s a cause for concern for Los Angeles bike accident lawyers, as injuries resulting from Auto-Bike crashes have been steadily rising.
In a 2016 Benchmarking Report, The Alliance for Biking and Walking reported that California is ranked fourth in the United States for commuters on bicycles. For fatalities, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that California ranked number one in 2013 with 141 deaths.
Los Angeles County Bike Accident Lawyers for Victims
Bike accidents can result in serious injuries. Bicyclists are more likely to be injured in a crash, and their injuries are more likely to be fatal because they have less protection from impact than car occupants. A bicycle accident can result in lifelong injuries that force you to make modifications for the rest of your life.
Once the insurance company is told that you have retained counsel, they are no longer permitted to contact you personally about the issue. All communications must be routed via your attorney’s office to safeguard you from saying anything that could jeopardize your injury claim. It also shields you against attempts to pressurize you into accepting a quick but low-ball settlement offer.
