One driver was killed following a two-vehicle collision involving a suspected DUI driver in Hayward on Sunday evening, February 19, 2023.
According to the Hayward Police Department, the fatal crash occurred shortly before 7:30 p.m. at the West Winton Avenue and Clawiter Road intersection.
The circumstances leading to the crash are still being looked into. A 50-year-old man, one of the drivers involved, was declared dead at the site. The authorities did not immediately release his identity.
The responders located a 22-year-old man inside the second wrecked car. According to law enforcement, it is likely alcohol/impairment played a role in the deadly collision.
A DUI Checkpoint will be held by the Hayward Police on March 3 from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. at an unspecified site to increase public safety.
