Two people were extricated after being trapped in a solo vehicle crash in Humboldt County on Tuesday morning, February 21, 2023.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the car crash occurred at about 8:15 a.m. along State Route 96 north of Willow Creek.
The circumstances that led to the crash are still unknown, but CHP stated it may have involved a Franz Bakery truck off the roadway. Two people were reportedly trapped and needed extrication.
Two ambulances and responders from the Willow Creek Fire arrived to the scene and found one of the patients unconscious and with a head injury. An air ambulance was requested to rendezvous at Berry Summit, but it was later canceled since the summit was fogged in.
As the investigation continued, no further details on the crash and the patients’ current state were immediately available.
