[02-28-2026] Orange County, CA – Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Newport Beach

A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Newport Beach early Saturday morning, February 28, 2026.

According to the Newport Beach Police Department, the incident occurred at around 2:02 a.m. near the intersection of Newport Boulevard and 24th Street.

Authorities stated that 26-year-old Jesus A. of Adelanto was driving a white Chevrolet Corvette at the time of the crash. Police said he fled the scene but was located nearby by responding officers.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.

Police arrested Jesus A. on suspicion of DUI. His passenger, 26-year-old Ashley G., was arrested for disorderly conduct.

The incident remains under investigation.
