[03-01-2024] Riverside County, CA – 23-Year-Old Woman Killed, Another Injured Following Multi-Vehicle Collision on I-15

A 23-year-old woman was killed and another injured following a multi-vehicle collision in Temecula on Friday morning, March 1, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 5:00 a.m. on northbound I-15.

Authorities stated that a 23-year-old Murrieta woman was driving a Honda Accord in the slow lane when her vehicle veered to the right, hit the CalTrans Fence, and ricocheted back onto the freeway. The impact of the crash had made her vehicle spin out of control and come to rest facing the wrong direction.

Police said that the woman was then struck and thrown away by another vehicle as she was standing in the #2 lane after she exited the vehicle. The 38-year-old man from Oceanside was traveling northbound in the #2 lane at around 70 miles an hour when he hit the victim. The driver remained at the scene.

The fatal crash resulted in three additional crashes where one person was taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

No further information was disclosed by the authorities.
