[03-01-2026] Kern County, CA – 59-Year-Old Man Killed After Being Struck by Two Vehicles in Bakersfield

A 59-year-old man, identified as Robert L., was killed after being struck by two vehicles on Baker Street in Bakersfield on Sunday night, March 1, 2026.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers responded at around 8:20 p.m. to the 700 block of Baker Street following reports of a man in the roadway.

When officers arrived, they found the pedestrian lying injured in the street. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.

Investigators determined that the man was walking in the roadway, outside of a crosswalk, when he was struck by a Chevrolet truck. He was then hit a second time by a Nissan sedan.

Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Police stated that driver impairment was not considered a factor in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
