A wrong-way driver collided with a California Highway Patrol vehicle that was conducting a traffic stop on the 10 Freeway in the Mid-City area Thursday morning, March 10, 2022.
According to a CHP spokesperson, the two-vehicle crash happened around 2:15 a.m. between Crenshaw Boulevard and Arlington Avenue.
According to investigators, the head-on collision occurred when a blue BMW was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes.
According to the video from the scene, both vehicles involved in the collision had major front-end damage.
The collision caused minor injuries to two officers, according to the spokesperson.
A witness identified as Justin exited his vehicle to check on the officers.
According to Justin, one of the officers had an arm injury, but the driver of the other vehicle was in worse shape.
Justin explained the other man was unresponsive.
According to a CHP spokesperson, the BMW driver was eventually freed by emergency responders and transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
