[03-20-2026] Los Angeles County, CA – Motorcyclist Killed, Bicyclist Injured in Head-On Crash in Long Beach

A motorcyclist was killed, and a bicyclist was critically injured in a head-on collision in Long Beach on Friday evening, March 20, 2026.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers responded around 8:15 p.m. to the San Gabriel River Trail, south of the San Diego (405) Freeway, where both individuals were receiving aid from bystanders.

Paramedics transported both men to a hospital, where the motorcyclist later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators determined the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on the trail when he collided head-on with a bicyclist traveling in the opposite direction.

Both individuals were ejected from their vehicles. Witnesses reported that the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed without a helmet or lights.

Authorities stated that impaired or distracted driving did not appear to be factors in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
