[03-21-2023] Two People Injured in Twentynine Palms Traffic CollisionTwo people were hospitalized after a traffic collision involving at least two vehicles in Twentynine Palms on Tuesday afternoon, March 21, 2023.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the collision occurred at about 2:30 p.m. on Twentynine Palms Highway and Sunrise Road.

A silver Nissan pickup truck was reportedly moving eastbound on the highway when it veered over to the opposite lanes of traffic and crashed into a light pole. It then overturned and ended up in a dirt field off the road.

A black Toyota SUV moving westbound turned to avoid the truck but lost control and flipped over. A third vehicle was damaged from the debris caused by the crash that closed a portion of the highway.

Both drivers from the first two vehicles were taken by ambulance with what are believed to be moderate injuries. No updates were released on their current conditions.

Although the crash is still under investigation, at this point, it does not appear that DUI played a contributing role.
