Experiencing a hit-and-run accident can be overwhelming, leaving you unsure of your next steps. However, taking immediate action can safeguard your health, strengthen your case, and improve the chances of identifying the at-fault driver.

  1. Move To A Safe Location
To avoid further accidents or injuries, move your vehicle or yourself to a secure area if possible.
  2. Check For Injuries And Stay At The Scene
First, assess your own injuries before checking on others. Remain calm and avoid admitting fault or making any statements that could be misconstrued.
  3. Collect Evidence From The Scene
If you are able, gather as much information as possible about the other vehicle, including its make, model, color, and license plate number. If possible, use your phone to take photos of the vehicle and the accident scene.
  4. Contact The Police Immediately
Report the accident to law enforcement as soon as possible. An official police report will be filed, which is crucial for both identifying the hit-and-run driver and supporting your insurance claim.
  5. Obtain Witness Information
If there are witnesses, collect their names and contact information. Their statements can help validate your account of the incident.
  6. Seek Medical Attention Promptly
Visit a medical professional as soon as possible, even if injuries appear minor. Medical records will not only help in your recovery but also provide essential documentation for your claim.
  7. Notify Your Insurance Company
