Traffic fatalities in the United States have risen dramatically in recent years. Every year, one million people are killed in car accidents. Car accidents cause 3,287 deaths daily.
Twenty to fifty million nonfatal injuries occur due to traffic collisions, with many victims suffering permanent disabilities. Approximately 8% of all fatal accidents in the state have been caused by it in recent years.
Road accidents cause significant financial losses to individuals, families, and governments. Expenses like these result in lost work time, decreased productivity and increased medical costs.
To stay safe on the road, keep a safe distance between vehicles in front and behind you, be aware of potential hazards, and follow traffic regulations. Automobile accidents still result in deaths despite these precautions.
What You Need To Do After an Accident
You should file a police report immediately after collecting information if it is safe. In essence, it allows the police to keep records of what happened during an accident on a central database, allowing the police department to keep those records securely.
A police officer will often attend to the scene of an accident in any case, but if they don’t, you may have to contact your local police and file an accident report, which you can do after the fact by phone or in person. In this case, the police can collect that information themselves if they are not present at the collision scene, and a report will be issued afterward.
