A woman was slightly injured after a train accident south of the Gridley city limits on Wednesday afternoon, March 29, 2023.
According to Rodney Harr, the Chief Officer of the Gridley Police Department, the authorities and CAL FIRE quickly responded before 3 p.m. after receiving a report of a person struck by a train near Washington Street.
Harr said they discovered the woman walking close by when they arrived at the area. Her leg was cut and grazed by the train. She got minor injuries and is in stable condition.
They stopped the train for about thirty minutes.
As a result of the recent spike in collisions in the area, Harr said the department has been in touch with the Union Pacific Police Department to add patrols of the railroad.
