According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred around the evening at 801 Palm Avenue within Breakwater Shopping Center’s parking lot.

A 3-year-old child named Josiah H., diagnosed with autism, was strolling to buy ice cream with his mother when a white car struck the child.

The vehicle immediately fled the scene, leaving the toddler with injuries on the foot.

The authorities are currently searching for the driver.
