A 13-year-old lost his leg after being struck by a motorcyclist who fled the scene in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, on Thursday afternoon, March 30, 2023.
The Los Angeles Police Department reported that the fatal hit-and-run crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. at the Whittier Boulevard and Orme Avenue intersection.
Joshua M., 13, was reportedly crossing Whittier on his way to get a haircut when an eastbound motorcycle hit him.
The rider fell to the ground and slid roughly 80 feet before coming to a stop. He then got back on his motorcycle and rode away eastbound on Whittier.
The kid was transported by paramedics to a hospital in critical condition. He ultimately recovered but lost a leg.
The suspect, identified as Erwin M., was later arrested, police said Tuesday, April 11, 2023.
No further information was released on the manner of arrest or the culprit.
