A driver struck and killed a juvenile in Red Bluff on Wednesday, March 31, 2022.
The fatal pedestrian accident occurred on a Wednesday night in the 1000 block of Kimball Road in Red Bluff.
When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a juvenile lying in the roadway with serious injuries.
The California Highway Patrol and Red Bluff Police officers arrived first and attempted to save the injured juvenile’s life.
Within minutes, the Red Bluff Fire Department and an ambulance arrived on the scene and took over the care of the juvenile, who was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital and later died, according to police.
Officers discovered the victim had been struck by a passenger vehicle driven by Isabella H., 18, of Red Bluff, during the investigation, according to the RBPD.
According to police, information and evidence found at the scene indicated that the juvenile was lying down in the roadway when struck by the vehicle.
Officials reported Thursday that RBPD and CHP officers spoke with Helmericks on the scene and determined that neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the collision.
The case was still being investigated, and anyone with information about the accident was asked to contact the RBPD.
Due to their age, the victim’s name was not released.
