The Los Angeles Police Department reported that the fatal hit-and-run crash occurred at about 5:20 p.m. on Pacific Coast Highway at Wilmington Boulevard.

The 52-year-old unidentified male pedestrian was declared dead on the spot. A westbound Scion xB reportedly struck him as he walked north across PCH against a red light and in a marked crosswalk. The driver pulled over and attempted to help the injured man.

A second unknown vehicle heading west struck the pedestrian lying down on the road. The vehicle, described only as a dark-colored sedan, fled the scene.

The city of Los Angeles has set up a standing reward of up to $50,000 for information that contributes to the investigation of the tragic hit-and-run.
