According to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Bureau, a man identified as 24-year-old Diego C. was killed in a fatal crash near Mt. San Jacinto College on Thursday, April 7, 2022.
According to the coroner, the crash happened about 9:50 a.m. on Soboba Road between Gilman Springs Road and Soboba Resort Casino.
According to a City News Service report, the California Highway Patrol said that the semi overturned onto a vehicle, but no other details were available.
Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department crews reached the location within minutes and initiated an extrication operation to rescue the smaller vehicle’s occupants.
Correa was removed from the smaller vehicle’s wreckage and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the fire department, another person suffered moderate injuries, and a third had minor injuries.
The injured were taken to a regional trauma center for treatment.
Both sides of Soboba Road were blocked at the location by the overturned big rig, which took hours to remove.
The crash remains under investigation.
