A 2-year-old boy was run over and killed by a truck at Lost Lake on Saturday evening, April 9, 2022.
The fatal crash occurred just before 6:45 p.m. in the south end of Fresno County park.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the toddler’s parents and other family members were loading their car when they realized the little boy had wandered onto the road.
A tire from a Chevy Silverado traveling down the road struck the child.
CHP Sgt. Joseph Bianchi claims that the Silverado driver, a man in his forties, is also stunned.
Bianchi further stated that the truck was going at a slow speed. It appears that the Silverado driver most likely didn’t even see the toddler.
The driver immediately called 911 as well as others and performed CPR.
There is no evidence that drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.
Fatal Pedestrian Accident Statistics
There are few more vulnerable road users than pedestrians when it comes to accidents because they are unable to protect themselves from potentially fatal injuries.
Pedestrian deaths in the United States have increased alarmingly in recent years. Between 2007 and 2016, the number of pedestrian deaths increased by 14, while all other types of traffic-related deaths decreased.
Pedestrians were never in any doubt about the dangers of drunk drivers. Drug and alcohol abuse while driving is a serious crime. In the United States, drunk-driving accidents are not as common as they should be.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), drinking and driving kills an average of 30 Americans per day in the United States. Drunk driving is believed to be responsible for 29% of all traffic-related deaths in the United States. Their blood alcohol content (BAC) is usually above the 0.08 percent legal limit.
