[04-12-2023] Fresno County, CA - Woman Killed After Crash Involving Tow Truck in Friant and Shepherd IntersectionA 22-year-old woman was killed after a two-vehicle collision involving a tow truck in northeast Fresno early Wednesday morning, April 12, 2023.

The Fresno Police Department reported that the crash occurred before 1:00 a.m. at the intersection of Friant Road and Shepherd Avenue.

The tow truck was northbound on Friant when it reportedly ran through a red light before crashing into a vehicle turning left at the intersection.

The car’s driver, later identified as Fresno resident Amaya C., was pinned inside and had to be extricated. She was declared dead at the site, while the tow truck driver was unharmed.

As the investigation continues, the unidentified truck driver has been cooperative and is not currently facing any charges.

Fresno police said they frequently respond to traffic incidents at the intersection, and the way the lights are configured could be a factor.
