[04-19-2023] San Diego County, CA – Reckless Driving Accident in Mission Valley Results in Minor Injuries

Minor injuries were reported after a reckless driving accident at southbound I-805 on Mission Valley in San Diego on Wednesday afternoon, April 19, 2023.

According to the Public Information Officer of California Highway Patrol, Jesse Matias, the police pursuit started around 2:45 p.m. after the suspect got involved in a multi-vehicle crash at Interstate 5 near Manchester Avenue.

One of the drivers, a 35-year-old Black female, fled as the CHP was helping the drivers involved in the collision, which started the chase.

Officers with CHP Oceanside pursued the driver on I-5 southbound before she switched to I-805. The chase ended when the driver struck several cars, including a motorcycle, on southbound I-805 near the Interstate 8 off-ramp.

Due to police activity, Caltrans said two lanes on southbound I-805 were closed.

Minor injuries were reported at the scene, but it was not immediately known how many people and which parties had been injured.

The suspect was taken into custody.
