[04-22-2022] Fresno County, CA – 58-Year-Old Man Killed in Fatal DUI Crash in Selma

According to the California Highway Patrol investigators, a 58-year-old man identified as Daryl B. was killed in a fatal DUI accident in Selma on Friday, April 22.

[04-22-2022] Fresno County, CA - 58-Year-Old Man Killed in Fatal DUI Crash in SelmaCHP officials received calls about an accident involving a vehicle and a person near Rose and Highland Avenues in Selma around 10:30 p.m.

Officials from the Fresno County Coroner’s Office have identified the victim as Daryl B., 58, of Selma. Pedro C., 27, the driver, has also been arrested, according to authorities.

According to the investigators, Cortez was driving east on Rose Avenue when his car drifted into the westbound lane, striking Bagwell, who was walking in the street.

Bagwell was pronounced dead at the scene.

CHP officers believe Cortez was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and used the license plate left at the scene to identify him as the driver.

Cortez was arrested and booked into the Fresno County jail on felony DUI, felony gross vehicular manslaughter, and felony hit-and-run causing great bodily injury charges.
