[04-22-2023] Orange County, CA – One Pedestrian Killed After DUI Accident in Anaheim

A female pedestrian was killed after a DUI accident in Anaheim on early Saturday morning, April 22, 2023.

According to the Anaheim Police Department, the suspect lost control of the car while fleeing the police, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and hit a female pedestrian.

After that, he crashed through the front yards of three houses in the 700 block of North East Street and La Palma Avenue. Then he fled the area on foot.

The woman was transported to a nearby hospital and was later pronounced dead. Her identity hasn’t been revealed to the public.

Reports state that the chase started around 1 a.m. after the officers responded to a report of a crash involving a stolen vehicle. When they arrived, they discovered that the collision resulted from an incident involving the Placentia Police Department and a suspect in a stolen vehicle.

Despite early reports, police claim they were not pursuing the suspect during the collision. The suspect’s name is being withheld as the investigation is still ongoing.

Officers received a report hours later, at around 9:10 a.m., regarding a suspicious man in the surrounding area of a church at 1400 E. La Palma Ave. Officers made contact with the suspect and took the man into custody.

According to Anaheim Police Department, the suspect was booked for several offenses, including DUI resulting in bodily injury, vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, and hit-and-run resulting in injury or death, among others.
